MNAI is seeking an Engineering and Environment Advisor to work in the growing and innovative field of municipal natural asset management.

The Engineering and Environment Advisor will provide authoritative, technical advice to help local governments understand, measure, value and manage natural assets’ abilities to provide core infrastructure services. The selected candidate will work with a multi-disciplinary group of experts to apply a systems approach to the quantification and management of natural infrastructure for municipal services.

Key responsibilities:

  • Project management (including technical team management)
  • Provide engineering related advice on natural asset projects
  • Ensure accuracy/quality control of final products
  • Community engagement as a key point of contact between MNAI technical team and communities we are engaging/completing work
  • Support MNAI Technical Director by:
    • Providing project updates
    • Identifying enabling research needs
    • Identifying policy barriers and/or opportunities
    • Providing insights on model development

As local governments in Canada are facing increasing challenges of failing infrastructure, climate change impacts, and rising service delivery costs, natural asset management is proving to be a vital strategy and approach. More and more local governments are exploring nature-based solutions as a means to continue delivering core services in affordable, financially and environmentally sustainable ways.
