The International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD) has just released their new report, Advancing the Climate Resilience of Canadian Infrastructure, prepared for Infrastructure Canada and intended for infrastructure owners, designers, builders, operators, investors, policymakers, and stakeholders. This report highlights that the use of historic climate parameters is no longer appropriate in a climate crisis, and that natural infrastructure solutions have a complementary role to play in building the climate resilience of infrastructure.
Climate hazards threaten all Canadian infrastructure, and the report goes in-depth on the hazards faced by land transportation infrastructure, buildings, water supply infrastructure, wastewater and stormwater infrastructure, marine infrastructure, and energy and information and communications technology infrastructure.
