The Symposium will be held April 22-24, 2014
Ottawa, Ontario, Canada
Organized by the Canadian Climate Forum (www.climateforum.ca), the Symposium will examine the incidence and impact of severe weather, the challenges it raises – and how we can prepare for, or adapt to it, to minimize its often devastating effects.
2013 was a year of costly and disruptive weather for Canadians. The Symposium will bring together experts from a range of fields, stakeholders, media and the public. It will stimulate insights into extreme events and consider the economic, infrastructural and health challenges they raise; participants will also discuss measures to develop resilience as well as to safeguard people and businesses.
A special media session on April 22 will provide information on the IPCC’s* March 2014 report on Impacts, Adaptation and Vulnerability.
