Cool ‘Hood Champs, an initiative at the UBC Faculty of Forestry Collaborative for Advanced Landscape Planning (CALP), has announced their 2021 workshop series for community climate leaders! Through a series of three interactive hands-on workshops you will learn to:

  • Identify climate impacts and solutions within your neighbourhoods
  • Envision your ideal climate-friendly neighbourhood
  • Champion climate action within your community
  • Connect your climate action to the City of Vancouver and Government of BC climate policies

Workshop One – Virtual Introduction

June 22nd, 2021 6:00pm-7:30pm PST

This workshop will include a Meet & Greet, an introduction to climate change and urban forestry, vision mapping, and a primer on crafting a climate change action plan.

Workshop Two – Killarney Seniors Center

June 29, 2021 6:00pm – 8:00pm PST

This in-person workshop includes a climate change neighbourhood tour, an urban forest quest, and time to craft community climate action plans.

Workshop Three – Virtual Conclusion

July 6, 2021 6:00pm-7:30pm PST

This final workshop will include a review and feedback on climate action plans, tips for community engagement, and conclusions and next steps.
