New resources and recaps from SFU Public Square events are now available, including resources from the recent Researching for Climate Justice and Equity in Practice: Community Capacity Building webinars.

The Researching for Climate Justice webinar was a dialogue on the barriers faced when trying to apply climate justice to policy and planning, but also the necessity climate justice  and its many additive benefits. Featured speakers included Khelsilem (Councillor, Squamish Nation), Anjali Appadurai (Climate Justice Lead, Sierra Club BC), Andréanne Doyon (Assistant Professor and Director, Resource and Environmental Planning Program, SFU), Maya Gislaison (Assistant Professor, Faculty of Health Sciences, SFU), Tessica Truong (Ministerial Advisor, BC Ministry of Jobs, Economic Recovery and Innovation), Eugene Kung (Staff Lawyer, West Coast Environmental Law), and Marc Lee (Senior Economist, Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives (BC Office)). Respondents included Bentley Allen, Jonathan Fowlie, and Mumbi Maina.

The Equity in Practice: Community Capacity Building webinar was a storytelling event that featured students from SFU’s Community Capacity Building Certificate program and their work towards building equity in their communities. Featured students included Emerald Asuncion and Desmond Williams, Jónína Kirton, Jshandeep Jassal, Andrea Wheeler, and Mateo Tobar
