On Saturday August 24, SFU Professor Dr. Mark Jaccard will join MP Joyce Murray for a town hall talk and discussion on climate action entitled “The Present and Future of Canada’s Climate Effort”. Canadians throughout the country are feeling the effects of climate change, and as emissions continue to rise impacts such as flooding, wildfires, and mass migrations of people fleeing will become more frequent, severe, and costly.

In this town hall, Dr. Jaccard will reference his forthcoming book “The Citizen’s Guide for Climate Success”, to outline how citizen efforts can lead to climate action by our political leaders, including linkages to recent political developments in Canada. The talk will be followed by an extensive Q&A session to discuss next steps in making sure governments respond to the biggest crisis of our generation. The conversation will cover a wide range of imminent topics; fracking, carbon pricing, behavioural change, nuclear power, oil pipelines, electric vehicles, biofuels, and negotiating global agreements.
