ACT ED Deborah Harford recently participated in an online international debate organized by Œuvre-durable and i-Rec, supporting the motion that adaptation to climate change is our best choice, with Dr. Silja Klepp of Kiel University supporting the opposing motion.

The debate format features a series of three statements from each opponent – opening, rebuttal, and closing – presenting their most persuasive arguments relating to the value of adaptation and the alternatives.

Voting took place here, with online commenters engaging in detailed and insightful discussion on the topic. In the end Deborah’s argument prevailed, taking 65% of the vote. The moderator’s comments provided highly valuable insights into key issues and improvements to adaptation approaches that we need to consider going forward.
